While relatively small during the Battle of Gettysburg, the soldiers and officers of the United States Regular Army nonetheless fought all three days for the Union cause at Gettysburg. During Pickett’s Charge on July 3, 1863, at least nine regular army artillery batteries took part in the cannonade, attack and/or repulse of Longstreet’s Assault. Join historian, author, and new Gettysburg Foundation president and CEO Wayne Motts as he explores the role and stories of the officers and men of the US Regular Army Artillery on July 3, 1863.
