An in-depth look at The Battle of Gettysburg Cyclorama by Paul Philippoteaux. We are going to focus on the creation of the painting and the changes that were made to the painting in 1889. We will also discuss all the real people and places depicted in this artistic masterpiece as well as any individuals who were creatively inserted into the scene. The program will include a driving and walking tour on the double-decker bus. From the top of the bus, you will be able to see the landscape from the same angles that the artist used while he was creating the cyclorama. After touring the field, we will spend quality time with the cyclorama after the crowds have departed. Extreme close-ups of the painting will be used to illustrate some of the more intricate details of the scene.
