Friday Evening Program
,Description
Monument Rehabilitation with NPS Supervisor of Monument Preservation Lucas Flickinger
Traveling around the Gettysburg Battlefield during the summer months, National Park Service (NPS) staff can be seen out working on one of the over 1,300 monuments or removing cannon from their positions to restore at the Cannon Carriage Shop. Sometimes, in the evenings, a lone “cherry picker” can be seen on the side of the road to be used for preserving a nearby monument. Every year, the Gettysburg Monument Preservation Division beautifully preserves and restores numerous monuments on the Battlefield – a challenging and lengthy process.
Join us for the Friday evening program to hear more about the current projects and the amazing amount of skill and dedication of the NPS staff. The Friday evening program will begin at 7 p.m. at the Gettysburg National Military Park Museum & Visitor Center. Light refreshments will be served at 6:30 p.m.
